Mazda Post-It Note Billboard
Mazda’s cars are known for their outstanding performance and incredible efficiency and now their billboards are known for their eye-catching creativity. Mazda turned to Primary Color to produce a unique billboard to be displayed on one of the busiest freeways in Los Angeles.
The challenge for Primary was to develop a solution to replicate the look of scattered post-it notes – on a 14’ x 48’ outdoor billboard. And these larger than life sized post-its could not blow away, but rather be removed over time to reveal the underlying billboard image.
Primary Color’s engineers came up with a substrate that could bend easily to create a curled edge effect for the post-it notes. This substrate would display Mazda’s artwork in a three-dimension fashion and could be securely attached yet easily removed from the billboard.
This one of a kind billboard has never been attempted before and anticipation was created for drivers passing by. The post-its were removed in three phases revealing the 2014 Mazda3 coinciding with the LA Auto Show.
